The way DNS is handled on (k)ubuntu 12.04 is a bit different. In the /etc/resolv.conf you will only find a nameserver 127.0.0.1 entry. This is due to a new way of doind dns lookups (http://www.stgraber.org/2012/02/24/dns-in-ubuntu-12-04/). If you want to find out the dns servers you use, you must use this command: nm-tool It prints a lot of data regarding your connections including the dns servers.
